Has anyone else sensed the subtle shift in seasons over the past week? I was talking to my mum about this and she also could sense the move from summer into autumn already happening 🍁 I’ve been experiencing this same feeling/sensation for years, but it seems really early this time? I guess it depends geographically where you are, but the things I notice in Scotland are: • a subtle change in air quality. It smells slightly different and has a cooler feel as it carries through the air. • change in wind patterns - more frequent breezy days and rustling of leaves as they begin to dry out. • Change in light quality. Mornings are duller as the angle of the sun changes, light bounces differently and has an overall different quality • A sense of nostalgia/longing/melancholy (I associate this with Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness” lyrics). It’s like mourning the passing of summer before it’s even over - weird 🌞 I love autumn too and look forward to the change it brings, but I do wish we could hold onto summer just a bit longer - especially as we’ve had many days of rain and grey skies!
