Dark Fungi – Vintage Mushroom Botany Illustration – Dark Academia Wall Art Print

A richly detailed botanical study inspired by traditional natural history illustration, this mushroom wall art print centres on the iconic red and white fly agaric (Amanita muscaria), surrounded by forest flora and smaller fungi species. Rendered in a dark, atmospheric palette, the composition evokes antique field guides, Victorian botanical plates and woodland folklore.

Often sought by collectors of mushroom art prints, vintage botanical wall art and dark academia decor, this piece blends scientific observation with symbolic undertones. The fly agaric has long been associated with myth, ritual and European forest lore, adding quiet narrative depth to what first appears as a natural history study.

The intricate gills, textured caps and surrounding mosses create a layered, almost tactile quality - making this artwork particularly suited to studies, libraries, cottage interiors and spaces inspired by woodland or gothic aesthetics. Whether chosen as fungi wall art, forest inspired decor or a statement botanical illustration print, it brings a sense of mystery and old-world craftsmanship to the wall.
