Taxidermy & Natural History Specimens
Our taxidermy collection brings together antique and vintage specimens selected for their rarity, craftsmanship, and historical character. These pieces are offered as decorative artefacts rather than curiosities, valued for their presence, form, and the traces of age that mark them as products of another era. Each example reflects traditional taxidermy practices, with visible signs of age and handling that contribute to its authenticity.
Taxidermy has long occupied a place within cabinets of curiosity, libraries, and scholarly interiors, and these pieces sit naturally alongside objects from our books, maps & paper and curios & oddities collections. When displayed thoughtfully, they introduce a sense of narrative and natural history, grounding a space in material culture rather than decoration alone.
Many collectors choose to integrate taxidermy with smaller objects from our trinkets & tchotchkes or house them within pieces from our boxes & storage collection, creating layered displays that feel collected over time. Placed against darker backdrops or beneath reflective surfaces from our mirrors collection, these specimens gain additional depth and visual weight.
As with much of Old Town Magick, many items in this collection are one-of-a-kind antique or vintage finds. Each piece is selected with care, both for its aesthetic qualities and for its suitability as a decorative object within a considered interior, offering collectors a quieter, more contemplative approach to living with historical natural forms.
