Antique Wooden Travel Trunk with Iron Fittings

A characterful antique travel trunk, believed to date from the late Victorian or Edwardian period, retaining a historic paper luggage label bearing the name North British Railway.

The trunk features a gently domed lid, timber reinforcing battens, dark metal fittings, riveted corner protectors and traditional side carrying handles. Its brown exterior displays a richly weathered patina, with surface marks, worn edges and variations in colour reflecting its considerable age.

Of particular interest is the surviving North British Railway label, providing a tangible connection to Scotland's historic railway network. The company operated during the 19th and early 20th centuries before becoming part of the London & North Eastern Railway in 1923.

Opening to reveal an unlined timber interior, the trunk retains the rustic character of a well-travelled antique. An atmospheric decorative piece for a traditional home, study or library, it is equally suited to period interiors, dark academia styling and collections of historic travel-related objects.
